Mission Ottawa 2014: Day 3

Another busy day on the streets of Ottawa, our third day, was a arduous and fruitful one. The Lord was gracious to provide us with another beautiful day to bring and proclaim the gospel in the downtown core where thousands seemed to be streaming through the streets due to the many festivals going on simultaneously in the area.
One thing we enjoyed seeing was having Zoe Curry join us on Elgin Street to hand out tracts. She is the youngest daughter of Chris Curry and is all of seven years old. It was her first time helping out with Mission Ottawa and gladly gave out 45 gospel tracts to passersby in the short time she was there. Thank you, Zoe!
The only heckling we received was when I preached the gospel to a long lineup of people waiting on the sidewalk in front of a centre town church where the world renowned Montreal Jubilee Gospel Choir was set to perform an array of gospel songs.
Yes, heckled by a woman in the lineup who was offended by the gospel being preached before hearing the gospel being sung. We handed out gospel tracts for the next 20 minutes to those who arrived for the concert after the lineup was let in.
All in all, it was a great day in the giving and proclamation of God's saving message. Praise God!

Mission Ottawa 2014: Day 2

A wonderful thing happened as we were searching for a parking space in a very busy downtown Ottawa. by God's providence, we happened upon the likes of Mike Stockwell, Chris Sippley and Kevin Kelley of Jeremiah Cry Ministries, and their families, as they made their way back to their vehicle to leave after a time of evangelism in the downtown core. Knowing we were to be in the vicinity, as well, they had apparently been on a trek seeking us out to visit with us downtown. We chatted for a while on the sidewalk and will continue the fellowship tonight at their campsite before they leave to continue their cross country mission trip across Canada. It was good to see them.
As was our experience yesterday, a beautiful summer like day brought out great multitudes of people to hear and receive the gospel in the downtown core of Ottawa. Well, they didn't exactly come out to hear the gospel preaching as though that was in their plans to do so but they did end up hearing it, some for some of it and some who actually stopped to hear it all.
Again, hundreds of tracts ended up in the hands of passersby. Though Ottawa is filled to the brim with tourists each year, there seems to be a lot more than usual, which is a good thing.
Four of the five of us proclaimed the gospel in the open air numerous times at two busy intersections. The name of Jesus was highly exalted and glory was given to God in the clear and public proclamation of His saving gospel to many souls.
We are now about to enjoy breakfast followed by some worship and prayer together as we get ready for MO day number three. Thank you for you prayers, friends.

Mission Ottawa 2014: Day 1

We are a team of six this year and our first outreach last evening brought us directly across from Parliament Hill where the gospel was preached to many a tourist and other passersby. A good number stopped by to hear the gospel being proclaimed, as well. The cross was held and attracted some to stop to ask the question and a few lengthy gospel conversations were had. The annual "Rib Fest" is happening on the Sparks Street Mall which always attracts a great number of people. Being restricted from preaching at this event, we stood across the street from the entrance and handed out hundreds of gospel tracts and 'streetlight' preaching proved to be an effective approach to proclaiming the gospel to the throngs of people crossing back and forth at the intersection. Vernon and Wayne finally got some long awaited sleep last night. It is noon, Saturday, and we are now getting ready to head out for the day to see what the Lord, how the Lord and where the Lord will lead us and have us do today. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ: your prayers are MOST appreciated. We go forth this day for the
glory to God! Thank you!
